South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust’s Detailed Access Guides Support 40,000 Users in First Year
One year ago, South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust in Northern Ireland partnered with AccessAble to launch Detailed Access Guides covering facilities, wards and departments for all of their hospital sites. Since then, over 40,000 users have accessed the Guides to plan their journeys to and around the Trust’s facilities.
AccessAble, a world leader in accessibility information, developed over 200 Guides to support individuals with diverse access needs – from patients attending appointments to visitors, and staff navigating hospital sites.
The Guides are 100 per cent facts, figures and photographs, covering everything from parking facilities and assistive listening devices, to walking distances and accessible toilets.
Reflecting on the success of the partnership, Anna Nelson, Chief Executive of AccessAble, said:
“We are proud to celebrate the success of South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust’s Detailed Access Guides, which have empowered thousands of people to feel confident, informed, and supported when visiting healthcare facilities. The fact that over 40,000 people have used the Guides in just 12 months highlights just how vital accessible, accurate information is to patients, visitors, and staff alike. It is a powerful reflection of the Trust’s commitment to accessibility, and we look forward to continuing building on this success together.”
South Eastern Trust, Assistant Director of Estate Services, Ryan Conlan, added:
“AccessAble has made a real difference across the Trust. It gives patients, visitors and staff clear, detailed information to help them find their way around our main hospital sites. It helps everyone feel more confident and welcome, making our services easier to access.”
South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust was the third healthcare Trust in Northern Ireland to partner with AccessAble, joining a growing network of organisations dedicated to improving access to healthcare environments for all.
