Accessibility Policy

Our website is always being updated and improved. We've tried to build the website in a way that places accessibility and usability at the centre. We've introduced many accessibility features to help make your experience of our website as good as possible.

We believe you should be able to access our website with assistive technology, like JAWS (Job Access With Speech), NVDA (Non Visual Desktop Access), ZoomText, and Dragon Naturally Speaking. It should also be usable with screen magnifiers and your operating system’s speech recognition software.

We’re committed to regularly reviewing our website in line with the latest best practice as set out in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). We combine this with user testing, predominantly completed by our diverse team of AccessAble Ambassadors. As part of our ongoing testing, we also use accessibility-checking tools that run checks of our website against Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. This flags any areas of further investigation to our development team. These checks are carried out every 6 months, or earlier if we get specific feedback from our user community.

We'd be very grateful for your feedback on how accessible our site is for you, so that we can keep improving it. Please email feedback to hello@accessable.co.uk (opens email client)

Browsers we support

Our accessibility features work when using the following browsers:

  • Chrome
  • Safari
  • Firefox
  • IE11
  • Microsoft Edge

We have chosen these browsers because they are the most common, covering over 98% of all web users.

Changing colours and text size

We’ve tried to use colours and text sizes that make the words on our webpages easy to read, but we know that everyone will have their own preferences.  You may be able to set your own text size and colours within your browser.

If you need extra help in using computers, the web and assistive technology, we recommend http://www.bbc.co.uk/accessibility. This site has videos and information to help you use the accessibility features of your computer and how to make it easier to use the web.

ReciteMe

If you would rather not change your browser settings we have included a tool called ReciteMe on our website. This tool can make the text bigger, change the font and change the colours used on the pages. This tool has been recommended to us by people who are neurodivergent.

ReciteMe can also read words or pages of text aloud to you and can translate the page into different languages. You can find out more about how to use ReciteMe here http://www.reciteme.com/user-guide
