Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a tramper. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Visitors must be a member of the Outdoor Mobility charity to have use of the tramper.

Route to (Grounds)

  • From the car park, carry on straight past the house and that is the beginning of the outdoor space.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located to the right of the castle.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland and gardens.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: gravel, bonded gravel and compact earth.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
  • There are slight slopes throughout the whole of the outdoor space.
  • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

Hikes and Trails (Arboretum Walk)

  • The trail is approximately 800 metres.
  • The Arboretum trail is a short circular route that goes around some of the outdoor space at Wray Castle.
  • The walk is not open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: gravel.
  • Some of the route contains steps and very uneven surfaces.
  • There are alternative routes to avoid these areas.
  • The route is clearly signposted.
  • Seating is available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.
  • There is a tramper suitable trail available.
