Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Route to (Manders Tea Room)

  • Cross the road ahead from visitor reception and follow the path uphill.
    Follow the path until you reach two archways.
    Go through the first archway then turn right.
    Then keep left as you follow the pathway until the tea room is observed ahead.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Picnic Area

  • The following information describes the picnic area located outside the tea room.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There are tables.
  • Some chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are not available.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 72cm.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 72cm.
  • The surface height of the lowest table is 74cm.
  • The surface height of the highest table is 74cm.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • All of the surface in the picnic area is smooth and even.

Entrance (Accessible)

  • The entrance surveyed is located to the right of the tea room.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There is a single automatic door which opens towards you.
  • The door is activated by a push pad at a suitable height for seated users (between 75cm - 100cm).
  • The width of the opening is 87cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.
  • There is a push pad to open the door on exit. This is 89cm high.

Entrance (Stepped)

  • The entrance surveyed is located to the left of the tea room.
  • There is stepped access at the entrance.
  • There is 1 step, which is unmarked, with no handrails.
  • There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 99cm.
  • There is a second manual door which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 76cm.
  • There is 1 step beyond the entrance, which is unmarked, with no handrails.

Eating and Drinking

  • This is a tea room which serves hot and cold snacks.
  • There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: written wall menus.
  • Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
  • The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, two handled cups, easy grip cutlery, takeaway cutlery, a portable card machine for payment, large-handled mugs and large-handled cutlery.

  • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 86cm.
  • The door has a lever twist lock.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 152cm x 270cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat.
  • The lateral transfer space is 89cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a spatula flush on the transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.

  • Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
  • The male and female standard toilets were surveyed.
  • The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 72cm.
  • The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There are hand dryers.
  • There is a baby change facility which is not at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
