Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Route to (the Arts and Crafts Gardens)

  • Cross the road ahead from visitor reception and follow the path uphill.
    Continue following the path keeping the large hedge on the left.
    When you reach the second archway in the hedge with the steep slope you will be in the Arts and Crafts Gardens.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel, grass and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located near the entrance to the house.
  • Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
  • The slope is under 75cm wide.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The width of the gap is 94cm.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
  • There are slight slopes throughout the area.
  • There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
