Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from the Welcome Pavilion, North Fountain Shuttlebus drop-off and the Manor House. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Woodland Play Area)
- The fastest and most accessible route to the Woodland Play Area is via the estate's shuttlebus.
The pick up point is next to the visitor car park at the Welcome Pavilion.
Board the bus for the short journey to The Stables drop off point.
Go through the Stables entrance to the alley at the far left of the courtyard, then follow the path up through the woods to the play areas. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, loose wood chippings and wood.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.
Route to (the Winter Garden Walk)
- The fastest and most accessible route to the Winter Garden is via the estate's shuttlebus.
The pick up point is next to the visitor car park at the Welcome Pavilion.
Board the bus for the short journey to The North Fountain drop off point where the walk begins. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.
Outdoor Spaces (Trails and Woodland Play Area)
- This information is for the access point located through the Stables.
- Access into the area is via slight ramps/slopes and steep ramps/slopes.
- The ramp is over 150cm wide, with handrails on both sides.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: a playground with play equipment, parkland and woodland.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: wood bark, gravel and compact earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes with handrails, steep ramps/slopes with handrails, slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- There are slight and steep slopes along the path to, and throughout the woodland play area.
There are also slight and steep slopes along the trail, mainly along the section at the rear of the house through the meadows and up to the aviary. - There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

Playground
View
- There is a route around the play equipment which is not firm and even, but is over 150cm wide.
- The play equipment is in easy reach for seated and standing users, and users of different heights.
- The following play experiences are available: swinging, sliding, rocking, rotating, climbing, balancing and crawling.
Hikes and Trails (Winter Garden Walk)
- Head along the path through the trees to the Powerhouse on your left and Coffee Bar on the right.
Continue ahead, past the turning for the accessible toilet until you reach a fork in the path.
Take the left turning to the meadows.
This part of the trail has steep declines and inclines.
Continue along the path until you reach a junction, take the left turning leading up to the Aviary.
At the top of this path, turn left and the Aviary will be on your right.
Carry on straight ahead, through the gardens and exhibits until reaching the top of the gravelled drive leading to Waddesdon Manor. - The trail is not open 24 hours.
- None of the paths are lit at night.
- The route includes the following surfaces: tarmac and compacted gravel.
- Some of the route contains steep gradients.
- These are found in the following areas: Throughout the trail.
- There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
- The route has information boards with large maps.
- Seating is available on the route.
- There are standard and accessible toilet facilities along the route.
- There are 3 other trails at Waddesdon Manor: the Wellie Walk, Barons Walk and Windmill Hill Walk.
