Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from the Welcome Pavilion, North Fountain Shuttlebus drop-off and the Manor House. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Powerhouse)
- The fastest and most accessible route to the Power House is via the estate's shuttlebus.
The pick up point is next to the visitor car park at the Welcome Pavilion.
Board the bus for the short journey to The North Fountain drop off point.
Head down the gravel drive until you reach the Manor.
Turn left and follow the path with a slight slope around the House until you reach the Coffee Bar.
Turn left here and down the path a short way to the Power House. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.
Entrance
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the Powerhouse.
- There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
- The steep slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There are double manual doors (with one door locked) which are permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 94cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.
Attraction / Exhibit
- The majority of walkway widths are between 120cm and 180cm.
- There is background noise here.
- Exhibit information includes the following formats: television/screen, interactive exhibits at a recommended height for wheelchair users (between 75cm - 120cm) and subtitles.
- The exhibits do not have hearing assistance systems.
