Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • You can borrow these from the Welcome Pavilion, North Fountain Shuttlebus drop-off and the Manor House. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Route to (the Manor Restaurant)

  • The fastest and most accessible route to the Manor Restaurant is via the estate's shuttlebus.
    The pick up point is next to the visitor car park at the Welcome Pavilion.
    Board the bus for the short journey to The North Fountain drop off point.
    Head down the gravel drive until you reach the Manor.
    Turn left and the Manor Restaurant is on the right.
    For the entrance, continue past the Manor Restaurant to the side of the Manor and enter through the Manor Shop.
    Go to the rear of the shop and up the ramp to the corridor.
    The entrance to The Manor Restaurant is on the right of this corridor.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.

Entrance

  • The entrance surveyed is located through to the rear of shop, along the corridor and on the right.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There is a single manual door which are permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 110cm.

Eating and Drinking

  • This is a restaurant which serves a Fine Dining menu.
  • Tables can be booked in advance.
  • There is full table service.
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: handheld menus.
  • Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
  • The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, easy grip cutlery, takeaway cutlery, a portable card machine for payment and large-handled cutlery.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • There is not a hearing assistance system.
  • There is step-free level access around the seating area.
  • There are tables and chairs without armrests available in the seating area.
  • The seating area does not have: a priority table and a mixture of chairs with and without armrests.
  • Tables are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • The surface height of the tables is 75cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the tables.
  • Some flooring in the area is smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to carpet.
  • Some of the flooring has a very shiny finish, which could cause issues with glare or look slippery to some people.

Outdoor Seating Areas

  • The following outdoor areas are available: patio.
  • There is step-free level access to the outdoor seating area.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 123cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
  • The majority of pathway widths are between 120cm and 180cm.
  • The surface of the outdoor seating area includes a hard surface.
  • Facilities in this area include: a table and seats without armrests.
  • There is a seat at a suitable height for a wheelchair user to transfer.
  • The surface height of the table is 74cm.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the tables is 72cm.
  • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre within the seating area (150cm x 150cm).
