- To borrow the tramper, visitors must be a member of Countryside Mobility, which covers insurance etc.
Visitors can join Countryside Mobility at Trengwainton on the day of hire.
Ear defenders are available to borrow from visitor reception.
Route to (the Second-hand Bookshop)
- From visitor reception, follow the main path up the hill and then turn right into the walled garden.
Turn left once in the garden and continue straight ahead until the signposted crossroads.
Turn right to go through two arches and then turn immediately right. - The route to the area is step-free level and is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Shop
- Access into the shop is via steps.
- There are 2 steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 82cm.
- Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
- Some flooring in the shop is smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to carpet.
- There is step-free level access around the shop.
- There is no (or very little) background noise here.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There is step-free level access to the counter.
- The height of the counter is 74cm.
- The counter has a hearing assistance system which is not signed.
- The hearing assistance system could not be tested at the time of the survey.
- Services/facilities available in the shop include: a portable card machine for payment and a member of staff to provide assistance.
Toilet with Adaptations (Second-hand Bookshop - Ambulant - Right Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located in the toilet block to the left of the shop.
- Access into the toilet is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide.
- This toilet is approximately 15m from the bookshop.
- There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 79cm.
- The door has a locking handle.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 133cm x 290cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 71cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a spatula flush on the transfer side.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and a vertical rail on the right side of the wash basin.
