Equipment and Resources to Borrow

- To borrow the tramper, visitors must be a member of Countryside Mobility, which covers insurance etc.
Visitors can join Countryside Mobility at Trengwainton on the day of hire.
Ear defenders are available to borrow from visitor reception.
Route to (the Garden Café)
- From visitor reception, follow the main path up the hill and then turn right into the walled garden.
Turn left once in the garden and continue straight ahead until the signposted crossroads.
Turn right to go through two arches and then turn right and continue along in front of the second-hand bookshop, then turn left up to the café. - The route to the area is step-free level and is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Entrance
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front right of the building.
- There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
- The steep ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with a handrail on the left going up.
- The ramp overcomes the steps.
- There are 4 steps, which are unmarked, with handrails on both sides.
- Steps are split with a resting area.
- The handrails cover all steps.
- Some of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
- There is a single manual door (with a locked extension leaf) which opens towards you.
- The width of the opening is 73cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- The locked extension leaf can be opened on request to provide wider access.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a café which serves hot and cold snacks.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered and table service (on request only).
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: written wall menus and menu boards.
- Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: two handled cups, easy grip cutlery and a portable card machine for payment.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.

Toilet with Adaptations (Garden Café - Ambulant - Left Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located to the right of the café exit.
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- This toilet is approximately 1m from the toilet entrance.
- There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 87cm.
- The door has a lever twist lock.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 142cm x 194cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 61cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a lever flush on the non transfer side.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and a vertical rail on the left side of the wash basin.

Exit

- There is step-free access via ramp at the exit.
- There is a single manual door (with a locked extension leaf) which opens away from you.
- The width of the opening is 73cm.

Picnic Area

- The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 67cm.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 67cm.
- The surface height of the lowest table is 74cm.
- The surface height of the highest table is 74cm.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven paving/tiles and gravel.
