Route to (To The Garden From The Car Park)

  • Take the path to the right of the Welcome sign through the car park picnic area.
    Follow the path to an open gated exit onto the road.
    Turn right and follow the road for approximately 45 metres up a long slope.
    Turn right through open gates and go straight across the courtyard to the visitor reception (which also acts as the café).
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are grass and cobbles.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Picnic Area (Car Park)

  • The following information describes the picnic area located between the car park and gardens.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There are picnic tables.
  • Adapted picnic tables are available.
  • The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 65cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass.

Entrance (Visitor Reception/Café)

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 108cm.

Visitor Reception

  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • The door is manual, permanently held open and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 108cm.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
  • There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) within the majority of the area.
  • Some of the flooring is smooth and even.
