Hikes and Trails (Mourne Coastal Path)

  • The trail is approximately 1.25 miles long.
  • The path begins at the swing gate to the south of Bloody Bridge Public Car Park. The path is narrow with steep slopes and steps in places and includes stiles to cross fences.
    There are steep gradients near the edge of the path and also along the route down to Williams Harbour shingle beach.
    The route back follows the same path.
  • The trail is open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: grass, block paving, gravel and mud.
  • Some of the route contains steep gradients and steps.
  • These are found in the following areas: throughout various areas.
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
  • The route is not clearly signposted.
  • The route travels through areas which are busy with traffic.
  • Seating is available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.

Hikes and Trails (Lower Car Park Loop)

  • The trail is approximately 400 metres long.
  • This route leads down from the left of the Bloody Bridge car park via steps and steep slopes.
    The route follows the coast before looping back around.
    There are narrow paths and some overgrown areas to access Bloody Bridge River which is popular with swimmers and gorge walkers.
    The areas near the river feature very large rocks which can be bypassed by sticking to the main path.
    The path returns up to the main road near the car park via steep slopes, and can also be used to join the main Mourne Coastal Path to Williams Harbour shingle beach.

  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: grass, concrete and compacted gravel.
  • Some of the route contains steep gradients and steps.
  • These are found in the following areas: throughout the path and near the car park.
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
  • The route is not clearly signposted.
  • The route travels through areas which are busy with traffic.
  • Seating is not available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.

Hikes and Trails (Upper Car Park Viewpoint)

  • The trail is approximately 170 metres long.
  • The viewpoint is located up the steps from the Bloody Bridge car park and along a narrow path. There are then steps back down to the gate at the main road back towards the car park.
    The main Mourne Coastal Path can also be joined at the gate.
  • The trail is open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: grass, block paving, compacted gravel and mud.
  • Some of the route contains steep gradients and steps.
  • These are found in the following areas: leading to and down from the viewpoint path, and in various other places.
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
  • The route is not clearly signposted.
  • The route has information boards without maps.
  • The route travels through areas which are busy with traffic.
  • Seating is not available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.
