Summary

Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Second-hand Bookshop and Picnic Area)
- From the visitor reception exit, turn right and then right again before the conservatory.
The bookshop and picnic area is on the right. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and paving stones.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Shop
- There is step-free level access into the shop.
- The door is manual, permanently held open and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 102cm.
- Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- The majority of aisle widths are under 150cm.
- Flooring in the shop is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven floorboards.
- There is step-free level access around the shop.
- There is no (or very little) background noise here.
- Lighting levels are low.
Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located within the building.
- There are tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are not available.
- The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 68cm.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven floorboards.
