Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys and soft toy.
- You can borrow these from the Visitor Reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
- All-terrain manual wheelchairs are also available in addition to regular manual wheelchairs.
Route to (Ice Cream Parlour)
- Follow the path from the car park until you reach the gate.
Continue past the gate and cross Main Road and continue ahead.
At the fork, turn left and follow the path ahead, past the house.
At the fork, turn right and continue ahead and the Ice Cream Parlour will be on the left. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Entrance
- The entrance surveyed is located off the rear courtyard.
- There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
- The steep ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is a single manual door (with a locked extension leaf) which opens away from you.
- The width of the opening is 91cm.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a kiosk which serves ice cream and snacks.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: menu boards.
- Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).

- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
