  • Obstacles from the car park include: loose chippings and a lack of pedestrian walkways to cross the car park.

  • There is a kiosk to the right of the car park that can be used to pay for admissions.
    Staff come out from the kiosk to greet visitors.
    For tour admissions, the main visitor reception nearby is used.

Outdoor Spaces (Play Area)

Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, activity sheets, soft toy and communication cards.

Visitor Reception

  • Access into the area is via a step and a steep ramp/slope (which bypasses any steps).
  • The portable ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • Please contact a member of staff for use of the portable ramp.

  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 82cm.

  • There are double manual gates (with one gate locked) which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 130cm.
  • There is a second manual door which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 90cm.

Toilet with Adaptations (Rear Courtyard - Ambulant - Left Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located round to the left from visitor reception.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • This toilet is approximately 3m from the rear courtyard toilets entrance.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 75cm.
  • The door has a twist lock.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of more than 1.5cm.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 250cm x 265cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat.
  • The lateral transfer space is 140cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.

Standard Toilet (Outside of the Courtyard)

  • Access into the toilet is via a step.
  • There is 1 step, which is unmarked.
  • The door is manual, permanently held open and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 68cm.
  • Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of more than 1.5cm.
  • The gender neutral toilet was surveyed.
  • The wash basin tap type is twist/turn.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There are no hand dryers.
