Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, activity sheets, soft toy and communication cards.

Route to (the Courtyard Coffee Shop)
- After exiting visitor reception turn left and follow the path through the archway.
Turn left after the archway to enter the courtyard.
The coffee shop is located in the rear left corner, beyond the external seating area. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, concrete and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.
Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located in the courtyard.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There are tables and bench seats.
- Some chairs have armrests on both sides.
- The surface height of the lowest table is 74cm.
- The surface height of the highest table is 74cm.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- Some of the surface in the picnic area in the area is smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven paving/tiles, loose chippings and cobbles.
Entrance
- The entrance surveyed is located in the rear corner of the courtyard.
- There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
- The steep ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
- The width of the opening is 94cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of more than 1.5cm.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a café which serves hot and cold snacks.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered and table service (on request only).
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: written wall menus.
- Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, takeaway cutlery and a portable card machine for payment.
