Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located to the right of the Guard House.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: parkland.
  • The outdoor facilities also include: Historical Ruins.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, block paving, gravel and compact earth.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas .
  • The slight slopes are located throughout the castle grounds.
  • There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

Picnic Area

  • The following information describes the picnic area located off the path to the right of the Castle.
  • Access into the area is via steps.
  • There are 4 steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
  • There are picnic tables.
  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are not available.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass.

Toilet with Adaptations (Toilet Block - Ambulant - Right Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located on the left side of the toilet block.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 69cm.
  • The door has a lever twist lock.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 169cm x 183cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 83cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a spatula flush on the transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
