Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, sunglasses, binoculars, magnifying glass, activity sheets and soft toy.

Route to (The Royal Burial Ground)

  • From the visitor reception, turn left and follow the path through 2 sets of gates.
    The access point to The Royal Burial Ground is directly ahead.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, muddy and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Route to (the Viewing Tower)

  • From the visitor reception, turn left and follow the path through 2 sets of gates.
    Turn right and follow the path.
    The access point to the viewing tower is on the left.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, muddy and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces (The Royal Burial Ground)

  • This information is for the access point located at the front of The Royal Burial Ground.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens towards you (pull).
  • The gate is self-closing.
  • The gate has a latch lock.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: parkland.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and compact earth.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
  • Slight slopes are located along the main path.
  • There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

Hikes and Trails (Yellow Circular Walk)

  • The walk is not open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: grass and mud.
  • Some of the route contains very uneven surfaces.
  • These are found in the following areas: along the main path.
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
  • The route is clearly signposted.
  • The route has information boards without maps.
  • Seating is available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.

Ramp or Slope (to Viewing Tower)

  • The ramp is slight and over 150cm wide.
  • The ramp does not have handrails.

Stairs (Viewing Tower)

  • The floors which are accessible by stairs are ground to top floor.
  • There are more than 20 steps between floors.
  • The steps are clearly marked with a handrail on the right going up.
  • The highest step is 15cm high.
  • The stairs are open.
