Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, sunglasses, binoculars, magnifying glass, activity sheets and soft toy.

Route to (High Hall)

  • From the visitor reception, continue ahead and then turn right.
    High Hall is directly ahead.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are paving stones and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Entrance

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There are double manual doors (with one door locked) which open both ways.
  • The width of the opening is 80cm.
  • There is a second set of manual doors which are permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 160cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of more than 1.5cm.

Attraction / Exhibit

  • The majority of walkway widths are over 180cm.
  • There is background noise which varies, depending on the time of day.
  • Exhibit information includes the following formats: pictorial, information board, television/screen, interactive exhibits at a recommended height for wheelchair users (between 75cm - 120cm) and subtitles.
  • The exhibits do not have hearing assistance systems.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There is a cinema room to the left from the entrance.

Toilet with Adaptations (High Hall - Ambulant - Left Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located on the left hand side of the building.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • This toilet is approximately 9m from the High Hall entrance.
  • There is tactile and pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 91cm.
  • The door has a lever twist lock.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 152cm x 208cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 82cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a spatula flush on the left transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder, wash basin and soap dispenser.
