Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • Equipment cannot be borrowed or hired.
  • You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a tramper. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • You can borrow these from the visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • The tramper cannot be used at all locations.
    Please discuss with a member of staff upon borrowing.

Route to (Terraced Garden)

  • From the visitor reception (Change House Mount Office) go straight ahead across the cobble path.
    Turn left after the Island shop on your left.
    Follow this cobbled path past the toilets on your left, and then take the right path before the Island Café.
    Go across the grass field to the garden entrance straight ahead.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel, grass and cobbles.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces (Terraced Garden)

  • This information is for the access point located by the ticket point at the far end of the main lawn.
  • Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: cobbled and grass.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails, more than 3 steps without handrails and more than 3 steps with handrails in the main areas.
  • There are slopes and steps throughout the terraced garden area.
  • There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
