- There are two options to get to the island - by boat or across the causeway, both of which are dependant on the tide times.
Getting to the Island by boat from the mainland (at an additional cost) involves a number of unmarked steps onto and off the boats at either end.
Getting to the island by the causeway involves crossing a soft, sandy beach and then across an uneven cobbled path for approximately 20 minutes.

Admissions
- At this location the following are free to access for all visitors: The causeway to and from the island, depending upon tide times.

- Parking charges apply to all visitors.
- This site does not offer companion or carer discounts.
Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- Equipment cannot be borrowed or hired.
- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a tramper. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

- The tramper cannot be used at all locations.

Route to (The Island By Boat)
- Boats will depart from and return to 3 landing points on the mainland, depending on the height of the tide.
Boats need to be booked in advance and there is a charge for all visitors. For full details see the websitehttps://stmichaelsmount.co.uk/getting-here/boating/. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and includes more than 3 steps with a handrail.
- Path surfaces along the route are concrete and sand.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Route to (The Island By The Causeway)
- The cobbled path is only available at low tide.
It is uneven and cobbled all the way to the island entrance.
It will take around 15-20 minutes to walk one way along the causeway.

- Path surfaces along the route are cobbles and sand.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Visitor Reception (Change House Mount Office)
- Access into the area is via a step and a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is 1 step, which is unmarked, with no handrails.
- The door is manual, permanently held open and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 79cm.
- Internally the door has a medium colour contrast.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
- There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) within the majority of the area.
- The flooring is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven paving/tiles.
- There is step-free level access to the counter.
- The height of the counter is 91cm.
- There is not a low level section at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The counter has a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
