This facility can be used by those who cannot get to the castle. - This site is not part of the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme.
- The nearest toilet with adaptations for disabled people is the Harbour Loft. View information about this toilet (new tab).
- There is a separate exit.
- The exit has step-free level access and an automatic door.
Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- Equipment cannot be borrowed or hired.
- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a tramper. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from the visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- The tramper cannot be used at all locations.
Please discuss with a member of staff upon borrowing.
Route to (Barge House)
- From the visitor reception (Change House Mount Office) go right along the harbour.
The Barge House will be on your left after approximately 100 metres. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are cobbles.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Entrance
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There are double automatic doors which opens by sliding.
- The width of the opening is 133cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.
Attraction / Exhibit
- The majority of walkway widths are over 180cm.
- There is background noise here.
- Exhibit information includes the following formats: pictorial, information board and television/screen.
- The exhibits do not have hearing assistance systems.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There are bench seats and chairs without armrests available in the area.
- All flooring in the area is smooth and even.
- Lighting levels are low in some areas.
- There is a large TV screen showing information about the island and St. Michael's Mount.
