Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • Equipment cannot be borrowed or hired.
  • You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a tramper. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • You can borrow these from the visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • The tramper cannot be used at all locations.
    Please discuss with a member of staff upon borrowing.

Route to (Barge House)

  • From the visitor reception (Change House Mount Office) go right along the harbour.
    The Barge House will be on your left after approximately 100 metres.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are cobbles.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Entrance

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There are double automatic doors which opens by sliding.
  • The width of the opening is 133cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.

Attraction / Exhibit

  • The majority of walkway widths are over 180cm.
  • There is background noise here.
  • Exhibit information includes the following formats: pictorial, information board and television/screen.
  • The exhibits do not have hearing assistance systems.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There are bench seats and chairs without armrests available in the area.
  • All flooring in the area is smooth and even.
  • Lighting levels are low in some areas.
  • There is a large TV screen showing information about the island and St. Michael's Mount.
    This facility can be used by those who cannot get to the castle.
