- Toilet and changing facilities available include: an accessible toilet for the use of everyone.
- The toilet with adaptations for disabled people surveyed can be found on the left along the main path through the garden.
Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys and soft toy.

- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a mobility scooter. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Route to (the Gardens)
- Leave visitor reception by the entrance and head to the right.
To the right of the car park map and information board, take the open gate into the gardens. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces (Gardens)
- This information is for the access point located at the front of the car park, to the left of the visitor reception.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The width of the gap is 90cm.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, grass and gravel.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor spaces.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no step-free level access around the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- The slight and steep slopes are throughout the gardens.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Outdoor Spaces (Dutch Garden)
- This information is for the access point located along the path from visitor reception to the front of the house.
- Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The width of the gap is 90cm.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac and grass.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- The paths going across the garden are steeply sloped.
- There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Toilet with Adaptations (Along Juniper Walk - Accessible - Left Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located along the main path from visitor reception to the house, opposite the costume museum.
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 87cm.
- The door has a locking handle.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 194cm x 234cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 118cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a lever flush on the non transfer side.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and a vertical rail on the left side of the wash basin.
- There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
- The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder and wash basin.
- The following fixtures cannot be reached from the toilet seat: soap dispenser and hand dryer.
- The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 42cm.
- The height of the toilet roll holder is 98cm.
- The wash basin tap type is lever.
- The height of the wash basin is 75cm.
- The height of the soap dispenser is 110cm.
- The height of the hand dryer is 109cm.
- The height of the baby change is 82cm.
- There is a pull cord emergency alarm but it is not at a recommended height (within 10cm from the floor).
- There is not a shelf.
- The cubicle has: a full length mirror, a nappy/incontinence items bin and a pedal bin.
- The cubicle does not have coat hooks.
- The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal door and the floor.
- The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: all grab rails, the dropdown rail and the toilet seat.
