Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, activity sheets and accessible maps.

  • You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a mobility scooter. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

  • An accessible golf cart with a fold down ramp 86cm wide is available.
    The cart can be used to take visitors to the main hall and gardens.

Route to (Home Farm Restaurant)

  • From the Visitor Reception exit proceed along the pathway for approximately 60 metres.
    The Home Farm Restaurant and courtyard is located on the right hand side.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, gravel and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.

Entrance

  • The entrance surveyed is located to the side of the building facing the courtyard.
  • There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
  • The slight slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is a single manual door which opens towards you.
  • The width of the opening is 110cm.

Eating and Drinking

  • This is a restaurant which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
  • There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered and a self service counter.
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: written wall menus.
  • Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
  • The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, takeaway cutlery, a portable card machine for payment and large-handled mugs.
  • Lighting levels are varied.

  • There is a single manual door which opens towards you.
  • The width of the opening is 97cm.

Entrance (Courtyard)

  • The entrance surveyed is located in the Courtyard.
  • There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
  • The slight slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is a single manual door which opens towards you.
  • The width of the opening is 97cm.

Toilet with Adaptations (Home Farm Restaurant Toilet Block Area - Ambulant - Right Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located within the toilet block.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • This toilet is approximately 1m from the toilet block entrance leading from the Visitor Reception.
  • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 87cm.
  • The door has a twist lock.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 220cm x 215cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 135cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a lever flush on the transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and a vertical rail on the right side of the wash basin.

  • There are hand dryers.

Parent and Baby Room / Baby Feeding Room (Home Farm Restaurant Toilet Block Area)

  • There is step-free level access into the room.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 87cm.
  • The height of the baby change table is 107cm.
  • The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
  • There is a chair without armrests available in the room.
  • Waste bins include: a nappy bin.
