Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, activity sheets and accessible maps.
  • You can borrow these from the Visitor Reception building. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a mobility scooter. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

  • An accessible golf cart with a fold down ramp 86cm wide is available.
    The cart can be used to take visitors to the main hall and gardens.

Route to (the Coastal Path and The Bund)

  • From the Visitor Reception exit doors proceed along the footpath passing the toilets on the right hand side.
    Passing through the permanently held open gate, proceed along the footpath where you will see the courtyard for the Home Farm Restaurant.
    Proceed past the Maze and The Home Farm Play Area.
    The entrance to the Coastal Path and The Bund is located past the Childe of Hale Trail on the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.

Hikes and Trails (Coastal Path)

  • The trail is approximately 2.4 miles.
  • The route has various sloped gradients.
    There are views across the River Mersey.
  • The hike is not open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: gravel and compacted gravel.
  • The route is clearly signposted.
  • Seating is not available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.

Hikes and Trails (The Bund)

  • The trail is approximately 1.8 miles.
  • The route is a coastal route with views across the River Mersey.
    The route could become difficult in places for wheelchair users due to slopes and uneven surfaces. Assistance may be required.
  • The hike is not open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: loose chippings, gravel and compacted gravel.
  • Some of the route contains very uneven surfaces.
  • The route is not clearly signposted.
  • Seating is available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.
