Route to (Tea Room, Barn Theatre And Toilets From The House)

  • Exit the house via the front door.
    Turn right along the front lawn, and right again along the gravel path running between the house and the rose garden.
    Bear diagonally right downhill across the lawn, towards the pond at the southern end of the garden.
    Turn left at the pond and the entrances to these buildings are on the left.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel, cobbles, paving stones and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.

Entrance

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the toilet block, next to the tea room entrance.
  • There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
  • The steep portable ramp is under 75cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The ramp overcomes the steps.
  • Please contact a member of staff for use of the portable ramp.
  • There are 2 steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
  • Some of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
  • There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 69cm.

Standard Toilet

  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 70cm.
  • Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
  • The shared standard toilet was surveyed.
  • The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 70cm.
  • There is an ambulant cubicle available with a horizontal grab rail on the right and a vertical grab rail on the left.
  • The wash basin tap type is push.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There are no hand dryers.
  • There is a similar additional standard toilet within the block with a door that opens inwards.
