Route to (the Formal Gardens)

  • Exit the visitor reception and turn right.
    Follow the path towards central hall.
    Go past the steps to the rear entrance of central hall, and the gated access point to the formal gardens is ahead.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located at the rear right of central hall.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are more than 3 steps without handrails in the main areas.
  • There two sets of steps to access the parterre. One set has eight steps and the other has ten.
    This area can be accessed step-free by going across the lawn via the arboretum.
  • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
