Route to (Estate)

  • From the Blue Badge parking, head towards the house and follow the path to the right.
    Follow the path as it slopes down towards Visitor Reception.
    Before Visitor Reception, the entrance to the Estate is to the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and tarmac.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located to the right of Visitor Reception.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is an easy open gate at the surveyed access point which opens away from you (push).
  • The gate is self-closing.
  • The gate has a sliding bolt lock.
  • The width of the gap is 147cm.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland and open countryside.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, compact earth and uncompacted earth.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
  • There are slight and steep slopes throughout the estate surrounding the House.
  • There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
  • The paths have gates and easy open gates which may create obstacles for some users.

Hikes and Trails (Blue Parkland Trail)

  • The walk is approximately 2 miles.
  • From the gate to the right of Visitor Reception, follow the path down the hill. Continue along the path over a bridge and through some gates. At the point marked by the fingerpost turn left and follow the blue marked posts across the field. Continue to follow the marked path as it turns around the House, Old Castle and grounds. The route comes back to the car park from the opposite direction.
  • The walk is not open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: grass and mud.
  • Some of the route contains steep gradients and very uneven surfaces.
  • These are found in the following areas: there are steep gradients and uneven surfaces throughout.
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
  • The route is clearly signposted.
  • The route has information boards with large maps and online maps.
  • Seating is not available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.
