Route to (the Garden)

  • From the car park, proceed along the footpath towards the coach house and tea room.
    Go through the gate into the courtyard.
    The entrance to the garden and house is located on the left.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, cobbles and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located in the courtyard.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The width of the gap is 100cm.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: gardens.
  • The outdoor facilities also include: a picnic area.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: cobbled, grass, gravel and uncompacted earth.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.

Picnic Area (Beech Walk Paddock)

  • The following information describes the picnic area located in the Beech Walk Paddock area.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There are picnic tables.
  • Adapted picnic tables are not available.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 72cm.
  • The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 76cm.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass.

Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
