Route to (the Woodland Walk)

  • Turn right after exiting visitor reception and go over the bridge.
    Turn right and follow the path passing the house on the right.
    The stable yard will be ahead of you.
    Go through the stable yard, and after approximately 50 metres turn right.
    This is the start of the woodland walk.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and tarmac.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Hikes and Trails (Woodland Walk)

  • The trail is approximately 1.5 miles long.
  • Turn right off the path from the stable yard.
    Turn off to the right to see the bandstand, otherwise, continue up the path to the left.
    Follow the path until you pass the lake and reach the rear or the house.
    Go around the house to the left to re-join the main accessible site path.
  • The trail is not open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: grass, gravel and compacted gravel.
  • Some of the route contains steps.
  • These are found in the following areas: at the bandstand.
  • The route is not clearly signposted.
  • The route has handheld maps.
  • Seating is available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.

Outdoor Spaces (Explore and Play)

  • This information is for the access point located off the woodland walk path.
  • Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: a playground with play equipment.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: wood bark, grass and uncompacted earth.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
  • The whole area has slight and steep slopes.
  • There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
  • Playground View
    • There are no firm and even routes over 150cm wide round the play equipment.
    • The play equipment is not in easy reach for a range of users.
    • The following play experiences are available: climbing, balancing and crawling.

Picnic Area

  • The following information describes the picnic area located to the rear of the house.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There are picnic tables.
  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are available.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 67cm.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 67cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass.
