Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Route to (the House)
- Turn right after exiting visitor reception and go over the bridge.
Turn right and follow the path.
The house will be on the right. - The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and tarmac.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Entrance (House)
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
- There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
- The very steep slope is over 150cm wide.
- There are double manual doors which are permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 104cm.
- There is a second set of automatic doors which open away from you.
- The width of the opening is 170cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.
Shop (Bookshop)
- There is step-free level access into the shop.
- The width of the door opening is 160cm.
- The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
- All flooring in the shop is smooth and even.
- There is step-free level access around the shop.
- There is no (or very little) background noise here.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- Payments for books are taken in the café.
Entrance (Café)
- The entrance surveyed is located to the left after you enter.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 86cm.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a café which serves hot and cold snacks.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: written wall menus.
- Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, a portable card machine for payment, large-handled mugs and large-handled cutlery.
- Lighting levels are varied.
- There is background noise here which varies, depending on the time of day.

- This toilet is approximately 15m from the house entrance.
- There is Braille, tactile and pictorial signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 86cm.
- The door has a locking handle.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 178cm x 217cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 70cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.

Exit (House to Picnic Area)
- The exit is located next to the café entrance.
- There is step-free level access at the exit.
- There is a single automatic door which opens away from you.
- The door is activated by a push pad at a suitable height for seated users (between 75cm - 100cm).
- The width of the opening is 76cm.
Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located at the rear of the house.
- There is an alternative access point located from the woodland area.
- There are tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are not available.
- The surface height of the lowest table is 75cm.
- The surface height of the highest table is 75cm.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven paving/tiles.
