Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders.
- You can borrow these from the Visitor Reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Gardens)
- Access to the gardens is directly to the right after leaving visitor reception.
- The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are cobbles.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Entrance
- The entrance surveyed is located on Wennington Road.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There is a single manual gate which is permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 103cm.
Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located in the lower garden area - sloped access via Wennington Road.
- Access into the area is via steps and a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There are 10+ steps, which are unmarked, with a handrail on the left going up.
- There are picnic tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are not available.
- The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 72cm.
- The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass.
Outdoor Spaces
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- The access points to the area are located at the rear of the hall and at the side of the café.
Additional pedestrian access is located on Wennington Road. - There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The gate is not self-closing.
- The width of the gap is 116cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens and gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, block paving, bonded gravel and compact earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails, more than 3 steps without handrails and more than 3 steps with handrails in the main areas .
- There are slopes and steps throughout.
- There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
