- At the time of our visit the hearing assistance system was working.
- This site is not part of the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme.
- Toilet and changing facilities available include: a Changing Places facility, an ambulant cubicle, standard toilets and a parent and baby room.
- There is a Changing Place which can be found in the lower courtyard opposite the café entrance.

Route to (Weaving Shed Restaurant)
- From the visitor centre, proceed along the steep footpath for approximately 700m.
The Mill Shop and Library are located at the bottom of the hill on the left.
The entrance to the lower mill courtyard is opposite the shop.
The restaurant is located in the left hand corner of the courtyard. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, cobbles and paving stones.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.
Entrance
- The entrance surveyed is located to the rear of the mill.
- There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
- The slight slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There are double manual doors which are permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 130cm.
- There is a second set of manual doors (with one door locked) which opens towards you.
- The width of the opening is 72cm.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a restaurant which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: written wall menus.
- Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, easy grip cutlery, a portable card machine for payment, large-handled mugs and large-handled cutlery.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There is no (or very little) background noise here.
- There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
- The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.
- There is a counter over 85cm high with a tray rail.
- The counter is 90cm high.
- There is not a section of the counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- There is step-free level access around the seating area.
- There are tables, chairs with armrests and chairs without armrests available in the seating area.
- The seating area does not have: room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- Tables are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The surface height of the tables is 77cm.
- The following furniture is permanently fixed: some of the chairs.
- Flooring in the area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven paving/tiles.
Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located next to the mill shop.
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There are tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are not available.
- The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 74cm.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to cobbles.
Changing Places (Lower Central Mill Courtyard)

Location and Access

- The facility is additional to standard and accessible toilets, and is located close to other managed facilities.
- Access into the facility is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 90cm.
- The door has a locking handle.
- Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
- The door has a horizontal grab rail.
- The dimensions of the facility are 238cm x 300cm.
- The ceiling height is at a minimum height of 2.4m and there is a clear 200cm x 180cm manoeuvring space in the facility.
- The facility has a non-slip floor.

Toilet Details

- There are lateral transfer spaces on both sides of the seat but the left side is obstructed.
- The transfer space on the right as you face the toilet is 71cm.
- The transfer space on the left as you face the toilet is 105cm.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, vertical grab rails on both sides of the toilet and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
- There is a dropdown rail on both sides of the seat.
- The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: all dropdown rails, the floor, all grab rails, the internal door and the toilet seat.
- The toilet seat is 49cm above the floor.
- There is a spatula flush on the right transfer side.
- There is pull cord emergency alarm at a recommended height (within 10cm from floor).
- The toilet has a cistern.

Changing Bench and Hoist Details

- The facility changing bench is wall mounted and height-adjustable.
- The length of the facility changing bench is 180cm.
- The changing places hoist is powered overhead and covers all areas in the cubicle.

- There is a fixed height wash basin not at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
- The wash basin is 79cm from the floor.
- The soap dispenser is 103cm from the floor.
- The towel dispenser is 122cm from the floor.
- The hand dryer is 122cm from the floor.
- The facility has: a full length mirror, a waste bin with lid, a nappy/incontinence items bin and a sanitary bin.
- There is a shelf located where it is reachable for seated and standing users.

- The coat hooks are 140cm and 147cm from the floor.

- Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
- The height of the baby change table is 95cm.
- The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
- There is no seating available in the room.
- There is a toilet in the parent and baby room.
- Waste bins include: a nappy bin and a sanitary bin.
Standard Toilet (Lower Central Mill Courtyard)
- Access into the toilet is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 74cm.
- Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
- The male and female standard toilets were surveyed.
- The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 60cm.
- There is an ambulant cubicle available with a horizontal grab rail on the right and a vertical grab rail on the right.
- The wash basin tap type is push.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There are hand dryers.
