Route to (Styal Village - Hub)

  • From the visitor centre, proceed straight ahead along the pathway towards Styal Village for about 300m.
    Go through the swing gates and proceed along the pathway for approximately 800m to Styal Village.
    The pathway has various gradients and an uneven cobbed surface.
    At the village, proceed straight ahead.
    The Hub is located on the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, tarmac and cobbles.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.

Entrance (Styal Village Hub)

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the side of the building.
  • There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
  • The slight slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There are double manual doors which are permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 210cm.
  • There is a second set of manual doors (with one door locked) which opens away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 80cm.

Tour

  • The tour is self-guided but volunteers/staff are available to provide additional information.
  • The tour takes approximately 30 minutes.
  • There is step-free level access throughout the tour.
  • The majority of walkway widths are over 180cm.
  • There is background noise along the tour route.
  • Tour information includes the following formats: television/screen, audio description and handheld information devices.
  • The tour does not have a hearing assistance system.
  • There are stools and chairs without armrests at regular intervals along the tour.
  • All flooring along the tour route is smooth and even.

Toilet with Adaptations (Right Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located at the rear of the building.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • This toilet is approximately 12m from the Styal Village Hub entrance.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 89cm.
  • The door has a twist lock.
  • Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 150cm x 270cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 67cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a spatula flush on the transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: wash basin.
