Route to (Garden)
- From the visitor centre, proceed along the path to the mill area for approximately 700m.
There is a steep slope on the pathway leading to the mill area.
Proceed through the gates, the play area is to the left.
Passing over the bridge, proceed along the path to the garden entrance gate.
There is a slight slope on this pathway to the entrance gate. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a very steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, tarmac and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.
- The shuttle bus can take you to the mill courtyard area only.
Outdoor Spaces (Play Area)
- This information is for the access point located beyond the shop and library, then on the left.
- Access into the area is via steps.
- There are 10+ steps, which are unmarked, with handrails on both sides.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: a playground with play equipment.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: loose chippings, wood bark, compact earth and uncompacted earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no step-free level access around the area.
- There are more than 3 steps with handrails in the main areas.
- The steps are at the access point.
- There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

Playground
View
- There is a fenced play area with an entrance under 100cm wide.
- There is a route around the play equipment which is not firm and even, but is over 150cm wide.
- The play equipment is not in easy reach for a range of users.
- The following play experiences are available: swinging, sliding, climbing, balancing and crawling.
Picnic Area (Play Area)
- The following information describes the picnic area located beyond the shop and library, then to the left.
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There are picnic tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are not available.
- The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 74cm.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to compacted earth and loose chippings.
- There is a gate is located to the left of the play area.
The gate opens away from you and is 210cm wide.
Outdoor Spaces (Gardens)
- This information is for the access point located at the rear of the mill.
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The width of the gap is 160cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland and gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: gravel, compact earth, uncompacted earth and wood.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- The garden route pathways have various gradients.
The steep slopes are facing the lake side of the gardens and the upper garden level becomes very steep. - There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Hikes and Trails (Riverside Walk)
- The hike is approximately 0.5 miles.
- The walk begins at the lower garden entrance and runs in a circular route alongside the river.
The pathways vary in gradients and are steep in sections.
There are gates on the route. - The walk is not open 24 hours.
- None of the paths are lit at night.
- The route includes the following surfaces: loose chippings and compacted gravel.
- Some of the route contains steep gradients and very uneven surfaces.
- These are found in the following areas: The upper garden area of the riverside walk is very steep and inaccessible to some..
- There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
- The route is clearly signposted.

- There are no toilet facilities along the route.
Equipment and Resources to Borrow
