Route to (Coastal Walk)
- Go to the far end of the car park, and then across the overflow car park. The coastal walk starts here.
- The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Hikes and Trails
- The trail is approximately 3 miles.
- Go to the far end of the car park. When the tide is high descend onto the beach, go to the far western end of the beach and go through the kissing gate. However when the tide is high, instead follow the path to the right and head uphill.
Turn sharp right and continue to follow the path. Just before you reach the road go through a kissing gate then immediately turn left onto the path signposted Port Simdde.
The high tide route is shown in photographs 2 - 5. The route will meet up at the far western end of the beach. Ascend the steep steps going up to the left.
Continue along the coastal path until you descend steeply via steps to the small fishing hamlet of Port Meudwy. Turn right at the bottom of the steps and follow the track uphill until you reach the road.
Turn right here and follow the road for half a mile. Take two more right turns following the road back into Aberdaron and the car park. - The hike is open 24 hours.
- None of the paths are lit at night.
- The route includes the following surfaces: tarmac, grass, gravel and mud.
- Some of the route contains steep gradients, steps and very uneven surfaces.
- These are found in the following areas: the part of the trail between where it leaves the beach and where the track from Porth Meudwy reached the road.
- There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
- The route is not clearly signposted.
- Seating is available on the route.
- There are no toilet facilities along the route.
- There are kissing gates and easy close gates along the route.
Outdoor Spaces (Porth Meudwy Cove)
- This information is for the access point located on the left after reaching the cove.
- Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The ramp is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: beach.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, sand, loose stones and wood.
- Footpaths are not available in all of the outdoor space.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- The steep slopes are present as you descend to the water's edge.
- There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- Equipment cannot be borrowed or hired.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
