Route to (the Sunken Garden and Old Kitchen Garden)

  • On exiting visitor reception, follow the path ahead and take the first path on the right.
    Follow the path to the rear of the house, then cross the green to the further path.
    This path leads into the Sunken Garden.
    The Old Kitchen Garden is accessed via the path through the Sunken Garden.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and tarmac.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces (Sunken Garden)

  • This information is for the access point located at the rear of the house.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and compact earth.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails, steep ramps/slopes without handrails and more than 3 steps without handrails in the main areas.
  • The top path running through the Sunken Garden is level, with no steps. The areas below this path are reached by sets of steps, beyond which the ground is sloped to varying degrees.
