Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from the Main Car Park Visitor Reception or Church Lodge Visitor Reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Deer Park)
- From the main car park visitor reception, head up the hill through the pleasure garden to the house.
Take the path to the right around the house, and the entrance to the deer park is ahead. - The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located to the right of the house.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The width of the gap is 117cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: parkland.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, gravel and compact earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- There is a slight slope between the gate and the upper pond.
In all other areas, there are steep slopes. - There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Hikes and Trails (Upper Pond Walk)
- The walk is approximately 1.5 miles long.
- From the access point to the right of the house, head away from the house towards the upper pond.
Follow the path around the upper pond. - The hike is not open 24 hours.
- None of the paths are lit at night.
- The route includes the following surfaces: grass and mud.
- Some of the route contains steep gradients, steps and very uneven surfaces.
- These are found in the following areas: throughout most of the walk and surrounding the pond.
- There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
- The route is not clearly signposted.
- The route has handheld maps and online maps.
- Seating is not available on the route.
- There are no toilet facilities along the route.
