Route to (The Stables Café)
- Take the exit at the bottom of the Penrose Hill car park.
Follow the road to the right, then take the first left down a very steep slope.
Continue along the road, following it to the right.
Then turn left down to a bridge.
Take the first right after the bridge up a long steep slope to the café. - The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located at the front of the café.
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide.
- There are picnic tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are available.
- The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 69cm.
- The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to gravel.
Entrance (Counter)
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There are double manual doors which are permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 200cm.
Entrance (Seating)
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
- There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
- The steep ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There are double manual doors which are permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 98cm.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a café which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: menu boards.
- Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, two handled cups, easy grip cutlery, takeaway cutlery, a portable card machine for payment, large-handled mugs and large-handled cutlery.

Toilet with Adaptations (Toilet Block - Ambulant - Right Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located to the left of the Stables Café counter entrance.
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- This toilet is approximately 4m from the Stables Café counter entrance.
- There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 79cm.
- The door has a locking handle.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 220cm x 197cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
