Ferry

  • There is a ferry that takes visitors to and from the island every 20 minutes.
  • The ferry trip takes approximately 5 minutes each way.
  • There is stepped access to the ferry from the quay.
  • There are 6 steps, which have a height of 24cm.
  • There is also stepped access from the island quay to the footpaths.
  • There are 10 steps, which have a height of 24cm.
  • There is also a steep slope past the steps to access to footpaths.
  • The slope does not bypass all of the steps.

  • Nearby parking includes: an open air public car park.
  • There is not a designated drop-off point.

Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Visitor Reception

  • Access into the area is via steps.
  • There are 2 steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
  • The door is manual, permanently held open and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 67cm.
  • Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of more than 1.5cm.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
  • There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) throughout the area.
  • All flooring is smooth and even.
  • Some of the flooring has a very shiny finish, which could cause issues with glare or look slippery to some people.
  • There is step-free level access to the counter.
  • The height of the counter is 99cm.
  • There is not a low level section at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • The counter has a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
  • The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.
  • There are tables and chairs with armrests available in the visitor reception.
