Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs and mountain trikes. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, binoculars, magnifying glass and torch.
- You can borrow these from Visitor Reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (Rose Garden and Walled Garden)
- Exit Visitor Reception and head right.
Turn left into the Top Garden.
Follow the path to the left, then to the right when it turns towards the house.
Pass the Second Hand Bookshop and continue along the path ahead.
The entrance to the Rose Garden is on the left, and the entrance to the Walled Garden is ahead. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces (Rose Garden)
- This information is for the access point located off the path towards the House.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The width of the gap is 160cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: bonded gravel.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Outdoor Spaces (Walled Garden)
- This information is for the access point located on the path to the House.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The width of the gap is 121cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac and bonded gravel.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.

- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
