Route to (Downhill Demesne)

  • Head to the far end of the Lion's Gate Car Park, and go up the sloping path to the right.
    Continue in the same direction through the gate and up the grassed hill.
    Turn to the left and go round to the rear of Downhill Demesne.
    The accessible entrance to Downhill Demesne is on the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel and grass.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Entrance (Downhill Demesne - Front)

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
  • There is stepped access at the entrance.
  • The slight slope is over 150cm wide.
  • There are 10+ steps, which are unmarkedhandrails on both sides.
  • The handrail does not cover all steps.
  • All of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
  • There is an opening without doors .
  • The width of the opening is 95cm.

Outdoor Spaces

  • Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: historic ruins.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, cobbled and grass.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
  • All areas around the main central space are accessed by various slopes.
