Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys and communication cards.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception and the house. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: off-road/all-terrain mobility scooters. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Route to (the Walled Garden)
- Exit visitor reception and go up the slope straight ahead.
Turn left at the end of the path and then take the path opposite the house.
Follow the path to the T-junction at the end and where the Lake Walk begins.
Follow the path which takes you around the right side of the lake.
Follow this path without taking any of the paths on the left and you will come to the walled garden ahead. - The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Entrance (Walled Garden)
- The entrance surveyed is located off the path from the Lake Walk.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There is an opening without doors .
- The width of the opening is 112cm.
Outdoor Spaces (Walled Garden)
- This information is for the access point located off the path from Lake Walk.
- Access into the area is via steps.
- There are 2 steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The width of the gap is 120cm.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: block paving and gravel.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor spaces.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are less than 3 steps without handrails in the main areas.
- There are 2 steps without handrails to at each end of the pergola on the right side of the garden.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
