Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys and communication cards.

Route to (the Sunk Garden and Shamrock Garden)

  • Exit visitor reception and go up the slope which is straight ahead after exiting.
    Turn left at the end of the path and pass the house.
    The entrance to the Sunk Garden and Shamrock Garden is on the left.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located on the left after passing the house.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, block paving, gravel and compact earth.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor spaces.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and more than 3 steps without handrails in the main areas.
  • There are slight slopes at various points around the gardens.
    There are 6 steps without handrails to access the grass centre of the garden.
    There are 6 steps without handrails between the Sunk Garden and Shamrock Garden.
  • There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
