Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Route to (the Gardens)

  • Take the path at the front of the car park which is signed for the manor house.
    Follow the path until you arrive at the café on the right.
    Turn left and follow the path across the bridge.
    Turn left after the bridge and continue down the path until you arrive at the gate to the garden on the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel, paving stones and wood.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • The access points to the area are located in front of the manor house.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
  • The width of the gap is 74cm.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, block paving and gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails, steep ramps/slopes without handrails and more than 3 steps without handrails in the main areas.
  • There are slight and steep slopes throughout the gardens.
    There is stepped access to some areas.
  • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
