Summary (Gift Shop and Plant Shop)
- View information about opening hours.
- There is step-free access once inside.
- There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
- The following are also available: a clearly signed hearing assistance system and facilities for assistance dogs.
- At the time of our visit the hearing assistance system was working.
- This site is part of the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme.

Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Gift Shop)
- Exit the visitor reception and the gift shop is on the left.
- The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are wood.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Shop (Gifts)
- There is step-free level access into the shop.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 107cm.
- Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- The majority of aisle widths are under 150cm.
- Some flooring in the shop is smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to carpet.
- There is step-free level access around the shop.
- There is background noise here.
- Lighting levels are bright.
- There is step-free level access to the counter.
- The height of the counter is 93cm.
- There is a low level counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The counter has a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
- The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.
- Services/facilities available in the shop include: a portable card machine for payment and a member of staff to provide assistance.

Entrance (Gift Shop to Plant Shop)
- The entrance surveyed is located within the gift shop.
- There is stepped access at the entrance.
- There is a single manual door (with a locked extension leaf) which opens towards you.
- The width of the opening is 104cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- There are 4 steps beyond the entrance, which have some clear markings, with handrails on both sides.
- Steps are split with a resting area.
- The handrails cover all steps.
- Some of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
Route to (the Plant Shop)
- After leaving visitor reception and passing the gift shop, turn left along the side of the gift shop and proceed down a long ramp to the plant shop.
- The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are wood and metal.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Shop (Plants)
- Access into the shop is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- The door is manual, permanently held open and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 274cm.
- The majority of aisle widths are under 150cm.
- Some flooring in the shop is smooth and even.
- There is step-free level access around the shop.
- There is no (or very little) background noise here.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There is step-free level access to the counter.
- The height of the counter is 93cm.
- There is a low level counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The counter has windows, TVs, glazed screens or mirrors which could adversely affect the ability of someone to lip read.
- The counter does not have a hearing assistance system.
- Services/facilities available in the shop include: a portable card machine for payment.
- The width of the exit door opening is 274cm.
- Most products are in an outdoor display area on a surface of compacted gravel.
