Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys and magnifying glass.
  • You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Route to (The Garden)

  • From the visitor reception turn left after the exit and follow the path to the end.
    At the end of this path turn right.
    The track is very uneven.
    Follow signs for the entrance to the Hall.
    The entrance is down the track on the left.
    Along the path past the entrance to the Hall is an access point for the garden and orchard.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and muddy.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
  • The entrance to the gardens is accessed via a set of gates 100cm wide.
    There is a second set of gates 85cm wide.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located to the side of the Hall.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland and formal gardens.
  • The outdoor facilities also include: formal gardens and an orchard.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, compact earth and rubber matting.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
  • The paths are uneven throughout.
  • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
