Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from the garden centre. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Second-hand Bookshop)
- From the car park, cross the wooden bridge directly ahead, go straight on, through the gate, and turn right. The stableyard is on the left.
Go through the arch and the bookshop is at the rear of the courtyard on the left. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel, cobbles, paving stones, bonded gravel and wood.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Entrance
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
- There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
- The slight slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is a single manual door which opens towards you.
- The width of the opening is 106cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of more than 1.5cm.
- There is a slight slope between 75cm and 150cm wide beyond the entrance, with no handrails.
Shop
- The majority of aisle widths are under 150cm.
- Flooring in the shop is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven paving/tiles.
- There is step-free level access around the shop.
- There is no (or very little) background noise here.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There is step-free level access to the counter.
- The height of the counter is 75cm.
- The counter has windows, TVs, glazed screens or mirrors which could adversely affect the ability of someone to lip read.
- The counter does not have a hearing assistance system.
- Services/facilities available in the shop include: a portable card machine for payment and a member of staff to provide assistance.
