Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Route to (the Garden Centre)

  • From the car park, cross the wooden bridge directly ahead.
    The garden centre is on the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, paving stones and wood.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Shop

  • Access into the shop is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The door is automatic, opens by sliding and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 158cm.
  • Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
  • The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
  • All flooring in the shop is smooth and even.
  • There is step-free level access around the shop.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • Lighting levels are varied.
  • There is step-free level access to the counter.
  • The height of the counter is 95cm.
  • There is not a low level counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.

  • This toilet is approximately 20m from the shop entrance.
  • There is tactile and pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 86cm.
  • The door has a locking handle.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 150cm x 215cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
