Route to (the Parkland)

  • From the visitor reception go straight ahead towards the house.
    Go between the hedges and turn right between the house and the café ordering point entrance.
    Turn right opposite the East Court entrance and you will be in the Cedar Lawn.
    Go through the Cedar Lawn and past Lord Curzon's Pavilion.
    Follow the path with hedges on either side out into a grassed area.
    The Parkland Gate Entrance will be ahead of you.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and muddy.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located at the bottom of the Cedar Lawn garden.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens towards you (pull).
  • The gate is not self-closing.
  • The width of the gap is 165cm.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: parkland.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac and grass.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
  • Some areas of the parkland are not level but most slopes can be avoided.
  • There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
  • The paths have gates which may create obstacles for some users.

Hikes and Trails

  • The walk is approximately approximately 1.2 miles.
  • From the parkland entrance with the edge of the park on your right, follow the blue markers.
    Turn left away from the hedge line towards a row of trees.
    Follow the tarmac path surrounded by these trees.
    Cut across through the wide tree lined area which leads towards the house.
    Following the blue markers, loop around nearing the hedges on the other side of the parkland.
    Head back towards the gate you entered through with the house front wall close on your right.
  • The walk is open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: tarmac, grass and mud.
  • The route is clearly signposted.
  • The route has information boards with large maps.
  • Seating is not available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.

Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
